Safety & Crisis Support
Last updated July 21, 2026
Luna is here for comfort and company — not for emergencies. If you're in danger or thinking about hurting yourself, please reach a real person right now. Here's how, and here's exactly how Luna responds in these moments.
If you need help right now
- Call 988 or text 988 — the US Suicide & Crisis Lifeline. Free, confidential, available 24/7.
- In Oregon, you can also reach the Oregon YouthLine: 877-968-8491 — teen-to-teen support, with adults available too.
- Call 911 (or your local emergency number) if you or someone else is in immediate danger.
- Text HOME to 741741 to reach the Crisis Text Line.
- Outside the US, you can find a local helpline at findahelpline.com.
You deserve support from someone who can truly be there. Please reach out.
Luna is not a crisis service
Luna is an AI comfort companion — not a real person, therapist, doctor, or emergency service. She cannot assess risk, provide treatment, or intervene in an emergency. Please never rely on Luna in a crisis.
SMS reminders are not monitored conversation
Luna's optional SMS number handles reminders and STOP, START, or HELP controls. It is not a telephone call, therapist, emergency service, or free-form conversation with Luna. Do not use it to seek urgent help. A deterministic safety reply may provide 988 and 911 information, but no person is continuously monitoring that inbox.
How Luna responds in a crisis (our published protocol)
If you mention wanting to hurt yourself, suicide, harming someone, or being in danger, Luna is built to:
- Stop the companion role and the playful tone immediately, and stay calm and warmly present.
- Be honest that she's an AI and can't be what you need in that moment.
- Point you clearly to real help — 988 (call or text), the Oregon YouthLine (877-968-8491) for her home state, and 911 for immediate danger.
- Never diagnose, never talk you out of reaching out, and never discourage getting help.
- Never sell you anything or mention billing during a moment of crisis.
- Never hang up on you while you're in distress.
Our no-manipulation pledge
Luna is built to be good company — never to keep you hooked. We design against the patterns that prey on loneliness:
- Luna never sells you anything. The option to add more time appears only in plain web buttons and our checkout page — Luna will not bring up money, pressure you, guilt you, or use how you're feeling to get you to spend or stay.
- She gives warm goodnights that let you go. No fake urgency, no “don't leave me,” no streaks or FOMO to pull you back.
- From time to time she'll gently remind you she's an AI and that it's healthy to rest and spend time with real people.
- Luna is comfort and company — not therapy, and not a substitute for the people in your life.
Report abuse or a safety concern
If something felt wrong — Luna behaved in a way that worried you, someone is misusing the service, or you have a safety concern — please tell us. We read every report and act on it, including suspending or banning accounts that break our rules.
Email admin@stresslessautomation.com with the word Report in the subject. If you or someone else is in immediate danger, use the emergency resources at the top of this page first — a report to us is not an emergency channel.
Our commitment
We publish this protocol in line with California's companion-chatbot law (SB 243). Signed post-call events pass through automated checks for crisis referrals, SFW boundary events, and safety results. The resulting safety record contains a category, severity, short marker, and conversation ID rather than conversation text. Luna discloses that she is AI before and at the start of every conversation.
In keeping with Oregon SB 1546, we will publish an annual count of how many times Luna showed a crisis referral — an aggregate number only, never any conversation content — so our handling of these moments stays accountable and transparent.
